"Style-wise the All Saints Family Cellar Marsanne has made quite a shift in recent years. I’ve always liked the wine though in the past it’s tended to be been made in a full, lavishly-oaked, sweet-fruited style. The hot 2009 vintage has produced a polar opposite style.

This is lean, salty, smoky and kissed by perfumed, butterscotchy oak – but only lightly. It has fruit flavours of grapefruit and peach but it’s a very lean, racy, grainy style. It’s yet very young; it needs time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I rated it a few points higher in time – it has that kind of potential."
